Etymology
- Its Japanese name, Ayashii Neko, literally means "suspicious cat" in Japanese.
- The name, Blanca, refers to her white color and her "blank" face.
Appearance
Blanca is a white cat with no visible face. Blanca's face is completely blank as part of her main feature. Blanca's only outfit is a sleeveless pink dress with white flower prints.
In New Leaf, Blanca wears a light blue collar around her neck. Blanca's outfit is changed to look like a circus performer, consisting of a red and yellow vertical striped sleeveless shirt and red and yellow pants with colors swapped on each half.
Personality
Although Blanca is not a highly developed character like some of the other characters, she is shown to have a very brave personality, similar to that of the sweet neighbors, as no matter how much effort they put into her face, she claims that they simply "scribbled something" . She is also easily surprised, as shown when in Animal Crossing when the player reveals that she is missing a face, and when the player unmasks her in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Appearances
Animal Crossing: Population: on the rise!
White will appear randomly when the player has visited other towns. The first time the player meets her, Blanca will have no face and will be asked to draw a new one for her. If the player meets White again, she may have a different face than the one the player has drawn for her. Once the player meets Blanca and draws a face on her, she can appear in the player's Town as a visitor.
Animal Crossing: Wild World
In Wild World, Blanca will appear if the "mystery cat" mode is activated (which can be done using the phone in the attic), and if the player has used WI-Fi. White can appear randomly if both of the above conditions are met.
Sometimes when Fran is in El Alpiste, he will ask the player if he has seen "the mysterious cat". He will tell the player that he goes from town to town looking for him, suggesting that Fran meets Blanca.
Animal Crossing: City Folk/Let's Go To The City
In City Folk, Blanca can appear anywhere in Town as long as WiiConnect24 is enabled on both the Wii and the phone in the attic. As in previous games, it will lack a face and will ask the player to draw one for it. Blanca's face can be drawn a maximum of twice a day. This has opened up some abuse with some City Folk users, due to the fact that Blanca can be edited by anyone and the fact that her face can allow for explicit drawings or words, depending on who is on the friends list. If the player doesn't draw Blanca a face, Blanca will get angry and tell the player that she won't be able to see anything. However, Blanca will only appear with a blank face if she is originally from the player's Town. If the player has received Blanca from a registered friend, then they will see the face that the other player has drawn, but the player can change or delete Blanca's face at will. Also, Blanca doesn't seem to know if the player has only added a small or a large amount of detail to her face. If the player drew on Blanca's face, one of the player's registered friends can receive it the next day.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Blanca returns to New Leaf and acts as the representative for the Day of Pranks. He dresses up and poses as a neighbor from the player's village inside his house. Players must guess which is the real neighbor. They do this by listening to a revealing piece of information that each neighbor says. Anyone who says the wrong information is a fake. To deduce the imposter, players can find out which information is correct by telling other neighbors that there are problems. They will initially respond in surprise and horror, but will soon calm down and tell you information that the two versions of the neighbor will use to reveal the fake. When the player knows who the fake is, he will say so and be given a towel. They will then be asked to hand over the towel to the neighbor's version that they think is fake. If they do well, you will receive a photograph of said neighbor. If the player can correctly guess all the neighbors, he will win a photo of Blanca the next day on a card.
Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Blanca makes a cameo in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a randomly obtainable trophy. The description of the trophy is as follows:
A cat with a canvas for a face that you can paint at will. After a trip through the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, it is possible to see it with a different face, drawn by another person. If you paint his face, he'll give himself a spin before going to another town. In Animal Crossing it is usually found on the train that connects the villages. It is up to you whether you look cute or extravagant.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS y Wii U
Blanca makes a cameo appearance in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U as a trophy obtainable in the Nintendo 3DS version of the games. The description of the trophy is as follows:
His face is like a blank canvas, and he used to let people paint a face for him, but in Animal Crossing: New Leaf he uses this quirk to fool everyone on Fool Day. Only a master of disguise could imitate other people so convincingly!
Curiosities
- The feature of drawing Blanca's face was removed due to players drawing inappropriate things that a player could take offense with.
- Blanca's gender is variable. Blanca is classified as a man in Japan but internationally she is a woman. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf, Blanca has a distinct lazy / athletic voice, both of which are male personality types.
- When the player gets a fortune from Katrina, she can talk about Blanca.
- Blanca's artwork for the original Animal Crossing depicts her drawing a henohenomoheji (a common cartoon that is made up of the seven hiragana characters he [へ], no [の], he [へ], no [の], mo [も] , he [へ], and hee [じ]) on her face.
- It is possible that White could be a literal "copy", since she copies the shapes of other neighbors.
- In Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, she claims to be in a prank war with Soponcio.
